Biography

North Atlantic Oscillation is a British post-progressive rock and electronic ensemble from Edinburgh established in 2005. The group consists of lead vocalist Sam Healy, drummer Ben Martin, and bassist Chris Howard. Their recording career began with the debut extended play Callsigns (2009) which featured the song "Cell Count" and a cover of the song "I Only Have Eyes for You". They signed with the label Kscope and released the debut studio recording Grappling Hooks (2010) which was named "Album of the Week" on BBC Radio 1. Their discography included the studio recording Fog Electric (2012) and the studio recording The Third Day (2014). The ensemble released the studio recording Grind Show (2018) followed by the studio recording United Wire (2023). Their music has been compared to the American ensembles Grandaddy and The Flaming Lips as well as the ensemble Pink Floyd. Healy also released solo studio recordings under the name Sand.
