Biography

Janjay Lowe, known professionally as Mon Rovîa, was born in Monrovia, Montserrado County, Monrovia, Liberia, and grew up in the United States after adoption at age seven. He first gained attention by uploading the single "Deeper Waters" to SoundCloud in 2017, adopting the name Mon Rovîa in honor of his birthplace. Mon Rovîa released the EP Sunburnt in 2020, followed by the album Dark Continent in 2021, which blended hip‑hop, trap, R&B, and indie folk. In 2023 he launched a four‑part EP series-Act 1: The Wandering, Act 2: Trials, Act 3: The Dying of Self, and Act 4: Atonement-the latter featuring the charity single "Winter Wash 24" benefiting the International Rescue Committee. Mon Rovîa was named a “Juniper Artist to Watch,” performed at Bonnaroo in 2024, amassed over 500 million views by October 2024, and debuted at the Grand Ole Opry in July 2025. In January 2026, he released his second album, Bloodline, which reached number 18 on the UK Albums Download chart.
