Mohammed El-Bakkar, born in Lebanon in 1913, was a singer and musician known for his tenor voice and laud playing. He gained early recognition through appearances in Arabic-language films. In 1952, El-Bakkar moved to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, where he released multiple vinyl records featuring Arabic music, including Port Said and Sultan of Bagdad. Notably, he performed in the Broadway musical Fanny from 1954 to 1956. His career highlights include performances for dignitaries such as King Faruk of Egypt and King Ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia. El-Bakkar also appeared in numerous films, radio, and television shows. He passed away on September 8, 1959, at the age of 46, due to a cerebral hemorrhage while performing at an annual Lebanese-American festival in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
