Biography

Melbourne Ska Orchestra is an Australian ska band, formed in 2003 in Melbourne, by musician Nicky Bomba and radio presenter Mohair Slim. Their debut EP Melbourne Ska Orchestra was released in 2013 to critical acclaim and garnered two ARIA nominations. The band embarked on extensive tours, including appearances at major festivals like Bluesfest and Vivid. In April 2016, they released Sierra Kilo Alpha, which won the 2016 ARIA Award for Best World Music Album. From 2018 to 2019, Melbourne Ska Orchestra released a single every week for an entire year, culminating in the album One Year of Ska, which won the ARIA Award for Best World Music Album in 2019. The band has performed internationally, including sold-out shows in London and headline sets at major festivals like Glastonbury and Montreal Jazz Festival.
