Biography

The Porkers, an Australian ska punk band from Newcastle, New South Wales, formed in 1985 as The Pork Hunts. They changed their name to The Porkers in 1990 due to the offensive nature of their original moniker. Their first release was the EP Tired of Being Pork Hunts, which reached number 6 on the Australian independent charts. In 1994, their debut album Grunt! received critical acclaim and entered the American market through Moon Ska Records. The band has toured extensively throughout Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Germany, and Japan. After a five-year hiatus from 2009 to 2014, The Porkers returned in 2014 with a fresh line-up after being invited to play the Soundwave festival tour by A.J. Maddah.
