Marcus Julian Kaye, born 14â¯Julyâ¯1971 in Burnley, Lancashire, was an English DJ and producer who operated under the stage name Marcus Intalex. He began his career as a house DJ in 1991, quickly transitioning to drum and bass where he became a prominent figure in Manchesterâs scene. In 1993 he launched the radio show Da Intalex on Kissâ¯102 FM, coâhosting it until 2000, and founded the labels Soul:R, Revolve:R, and Birdie, the latter named after his golfing nickname. His first single, "What Ya Gonna Do", appeared in 1994, establishing his presence in the underground circuit. Marcus Intalex released the mix album FabricLive.35 in 2007, followed by 21 on Soul:R in 2011 to mark twentyâone years of activity. He expanded into house and techno under the pseudonym Trevino, releasing tracks and touring under that name. The artist maintained a global touring schedule, collaborating with peers such as Mark XTC and contributing remixes for artists including 4â¯Hero and DJ Marky. Marcus Intalex died on 28â¯Mayâ¯2017 in Manchester at age 45, after which the Marcus Intalex Music Foundation was founded to support emerging talent. The foundation continues his legacy through educational workshops and community events.
