Kreuzweg Ost is an Austrian martial industrial and darkwave project from Vienna founded in 1998. The project was established by Michael Gregor, also known as Silenius, and Martin Schirenc. Schirenc departed following the release of the debut album Iron Avantgarde (2000), and Gregor subsequently expanded the lineup with Ronald Albrecht and Oliver Stummer in 2003. Their music is characterized by the absence of conventional vocals, instead using film samples from works including Der Name der Rose, Der Zauberberg, and Im Westen nichts Neues as vocalizations. The project's concept involves musical translations of films dealing with military and religious topics. Later releases include the albums Edelrost (2005) and Gott mit uns (2012).
