Biography

Suspiria, a British rock band formed in Nottingham, England, in 1993, consisted of vocalist Matthew Carl Lucian and guitarist Mark Tansley. Initially a four-piece guitar-driven band, Suspiria evolved into a duo and made an impact on the UK goth music scene by shifting away from Sisters of Mercy-influenced guitar rock towards a more electronic sound. Their debut release, Tragedy E.P., in 1994 gained international club and radio play, establishing them as a sought-after band in the underground goth scene. The following year, their album The Great And Secret Show featured hits like "Night Time" and a cover of Depeche Mode's "Behind the Wheel". In 1997, Suspiria released Drama, which became Nightbreed Recordings' best-selling album. Internal tensions led to their disbandment after a final live show at the 1998 Carnival of Souls festival.
