Gwen Dickey was born on 1 December 1953 in the United States of America and emerged as a vocalist in the R&B and disco scenes. Her breakthrough came in 1976 when she led the hit single âCar Washâ with Rose Royce, reaching Number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The following year she recorded âWishing on a Starâ and continued to record with the group on albums such as Car Wash (1976), In Full Bloom (1977), Strikes Again (1978), and Rainbow Connection IV(1979). In 1980 Dickey left Rose Royce and pursued a solo career, releasing the album The Magic Friend (1993) and the compilation The Best Is Yet To Come (1995). Her solo releases included singles such as âI'm In Love Againâ (1987), âDon't Stopâ (1992), and âAin't Nobody (Loves Me Better)â (1994). In 2017 she re-formed a new version of Rose Royce and began touring internationally, including participation in the Giants of Soul tour.
