Brazilian pagode sensation Ferrugem, born Jheison Failde de Souza on October 20, 1988, in Rio de Janeiro, made waves in the music scene with his soulful voice and deep connection to samba culture. Raised in a musical family with his mother as a backing vocalist, Ferrugem discovered his passion early, joining samba circles and eventually learning to play the tantã drum. He gained initial attention in São Paulo's samba community with his song "Meu Bem," leading to his signing with Warner Music and the release of his debut album Climatizar in 2015. This album, featuring collaborations with Anitta and Alcione, included popular singles like "Tentei Ser IncrÃvel" and "Paciência." In 2018, Ferrugem gained national acclaim with the release of his first live DVD, Prazer, Eu Sou Ferrugem, which brought him a Latin Grammy nomination and included hits like "Pirata e Tesouro" and "Pra Você Acreditar." His success continued with Chão de Estrelas (2019), another live album featuring collaborations with top Brazilian artists such as Ivete Sangalo and Léo Santana. Another live LP titled Abre-Alas arrived in 2020, followed by the 2023 studio album Interessante, which featured guest appearances by LuÃsa Sonza and IZA. In 2024, he marked a decade of releases with the live anniversary project Ferrugem 10 Anos, Vol. 1: O InÃcio (Ao Vivo), followed quickly by Ferrugem 10 Anos, Vol. 2 â Replay (Ao Vivo), reframing early hits and crowd staples with updated arrangements and a bigger band feel. Later that same year, he doubled down on classic pagode lineage with Legado do PrÃncipe: Ferrugem Canta Reinaldo (Ao Vivo) (2024), a full tribute set recorded live that positioned him explicitly in dialogue with one of the genreâs key voices. In 2025, Ferrugem kept that momentum through a mix of new songs and curated live formats: he released the single âApagar (Fundo Raso)â (2025), expanded his live discography with Macaco Sessions: Ferrugem (Ao Vivo) (2025), and then issued Ferrugem para sofrer (2025), a heartbreak-leaning set that also included the single âArrependidaçoâ (2025) and a high-profile pagode duet with Sorriso Maroto on âPra você acreditar (Ao Vivo).â He opened 2026 with the studio album Sentimento (2026), a 12-track project that built directly on that recent run of singles and reaffirmed his lane: romantic pagode with pop-level hooks, delivered with the intimacy of a roda and the polish of arena-ready production.
