Biography

Péricles Aparecido Fonseca de Faria, born on June 22, 1969, in Santo André, is a celebrated Brazilian pagode singer, composer, and instrumentalist. His career began as the lead vocalist of the iconic group Exaltasamba, which he joined in the late 1980s. With Exaltasamba, Péricles recorded over 20 albums and DVDs, touring extensively throughout Brazil. In 2012, after the group's dissolution, he embarked on a successful solo career, releasing his debut solo album Sensações, which featured hit songs like "Linguagem dos Olhos" and collaborations with artists like Luan Santana. His second DVD, Nos Arcos da Lapa (2013), further solidified his solo career with reimagined classics and partnerships with prominent names like Xande de Pilares and Mumuzinho. Péricles continued to evolve artistically, with albums like Feito pra Durar (2015) and Deserto da Ilusão (2017), the latter featuring Djavan and Sorriso Maroto. In 2018, he expanded his influence by creating the YouTube channel "Canal do Pericão" and receiving a Latin Grammy nomination for Em Sua Direção. Known for his powerful voice and deep connection to samba and pagode, Péricles remains one of Brazil’s most beloved artists, with his recent performance at Tusca 2023 reaffirming his status as a key figure in the genre. That year, he released the album Calendário, followed by the live LP Calendário (Ao Vivo) in 2024.
