Alexandre Pires, born in Uberlândia, Brazil, on January 8, 1976, is a celebrated singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist known for his soulful voice and romantic pagode style. He first gained fame in 1989 as the lead vocalist of Só Pra Contrariar, a group that became a sensation in Brazil with hits like "Que Se Chama Amor" and "Depois do Prazer," achieving millions of album sales. Alexandre Pires launched his solo career in 2001 with É Por Amor, an album produced by Emilio Estefan that solidified his success across Latin America with tracks such as "Usted Se Me Llevó La Vida." His global recognition grew with collaborations like "Santo Santo" alongside Gloria Estefan and performances for international figures, including a rendition of "Garota de Ipanema" for President George W. Bush. Over the years, he has explored diverse genres, from samba in Meu Samba (2005) to his MPB-inspired DNA Musical (2017), featuring icons like Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. Alexandre Pires also captivated fans with the Baile do Nêgo Véio tour, celebrating 1990s hits, and his 2021 collaboration with Seu Jorge on the Irmãos tour. In 2024, he reunited with Só Pra Contrariar for a final acoustic tour, marking over three decades of musical excellence.
