Marcelo Pires Vieira, known as Belo, was born on April 22, 1974, in São Paulo, Brazil. He started his music career as a cavaquinista before joining Soweto in 1993. With Soweto, he released three albums and performed extensively across Brazil and internationally. In 1997, the group's album Refém do Coração sold over 1 million copies, marking their national breakthrough. Belo left Soweto in 2000 and launched his solo career with the album Desafio, whose track âTua Bocaâ was featured in the telenovela O Cravo e a Rosa and helped the record reach blockbuster sales, followed by Belo ao Vivo in 2001 and Valeu Esperar in 2002, consolidating him as a leading voice in romantic pagode. Belo continued to expand his catalog with Seu Fã and the live DVD Seu Fã ao Vivo in 2004, the self-titled Belo in 2006 and the live project Pra Ver o Sol Brilhar ao Vivo in 2008, then moved into the 2010s with studio albums Primavera (2009), Pra Ser Amor (2010), Tudo Novo (2013) and Mistério (2014), alongside collaborations on major pagode releases and DVDs. He added De Alma Aberta in 2018 and the intimate live album Belo em Casa in 2020, then entered a new phase with the large-scale show concept Belo In Concert, documented on the live album Belo In Concert â Espaço das Américas in 2022 and expanded with the 2025 live release Belo In Concert (Ao Vivo), while he remained active on Brazilian television and on extensive national tours as one of pagodeâs most recognizable solo artists.
