Biography
Mohamed Allam, known professionally as Djamel Allam, was born on July 26, 1947 in Ilmaten, Algeria, and began his musical education at the Béjaïa Conservatory under Sheikh Sadek El Béjaoui before moving to France in 1967. His breakthrough came with the 1974 release of Arjouth, which achieved significant acclaim and led to tours across Europe and the United States. He continued to issue albums such as Les rêves du vent (1978), Si ⢠Slimane (1981), and Salimô (1985), while composing soundtracks for films and documentaries including Ma dernière nuit à la Goutte d'Or. He passed away on 1September 15, 2018 in Paris, and was posthumously honored with a 2019 In Memoriam World Music Award from the Académie Charles Cros.
