Die Krupps is a German industrial metal and electronic body music band formed in 1980 in Düsseldorf by Jürgen Engler, Ralf Dörper, and Bernward Malaka. Their debut album, Stahlwerksynfonie (1981), blended industrial noises with metallic percussion. In 1982, the group released Volle Kraft voraus!, which showcased a more synthesizer-based sound. Their first English-language material appeared on the album Entering the Arena (1985). In 1989, Dörper and Engler collaborated with Nitzer Ebb on the single âMachineries of Joyâ, which led to the reactivation of the band. The group transitioned into industrial metal in the early 1990s, releasing the albums I (1992), II â The Final Option (1993), and III â Odyssey of the Mind (1995). They disbanded after releasing Paradise Now (1997) but reunited in 2005. Subsequent releases include Too Much History (2007), the EP Als wären wir für immer (2010), and the studio albums The Machinists of Joy (2013), V â Metal Machine Music (2015), and Vision 2020 Vision (2019).
