Front Line Assembly is a Canadian electro-industrial band formed by Bill Leeb in 1986 following his departure from Skinny Puppy. The group's debut album, The Initial Command, was released in late 1987 on the Belgian independent label KK, with credited assistance from Rhys Fulber and Michael Balch, the latter of whom became an official member in 1988. The band's breakthrough came with the 1989 album, Gashed Senses & Crossfire, which featured the single "âDigital Tension Dementiaâ" and peaked at number 45 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. Throughout the 1990s, the group released several notable albums, which include Caustic Grip (1990), Tactical Neural Implant (1992), and Hard Wired (1995). The band also produced soundtracks for video games such as Quake III: Team Arena and AirMech, and several of its albums charted on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
