Biography

:wumpscut: was a German electro-industrial music project founded in 1991 by musician and producer Rudolf "Rudy" Ratzinger. After working as a DJ in the late 1980s, Ratzinger began experimenting with synthesizers and gained attention in the goth scene with the song "Soylent Green" from the 1993 album Music for a Slaughtering Tribe. In 1995, he launched the label Beton Kopf Media for the project’s releases. :wumpscut: became known for its limited-edition box sets and refusal to perform live. Although Ratzinger announced in 2017 that the project would end, :wumpscut: later resumed activity and released new material, including Fledermavs 303 (2021) and DJ Dwarf 23 (2023).
