Sascha Konietzko, born 29 February 1966 in Ludwigshafen, Germany, served as the founding vocalist, producer, and principal songwriter of the industrial group KMFDM. After early exposure to punk and Throbbing Gristle, he established KMFDM in 1984, releasing the debut EP What Do You Know, Deutschland? in 1986 followed by the single "Terror" from Don't Blow Your Top in 1988. The band progressed through a series of studio albums, including Naïve in 1990, Money in 1992, Angst in 1993, and Nihil in 1995, while gaining chart traction such as "Juke Joint Jezebel" reaching number 27 on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play in 1996. KMFDM signed with Wax Trax! and later Elektra, toured extensively, and experienced a temporary disbandment in 1999 before reforming in 2002. Subsequent releases Blitz in 2009 and WTF?! in 2011 reflected a shift toward electronic textures; the group continued touring and released Let Go in 2024, celebrating its 40âyear legacy. KMFDM followed up in 2026 with Enemy.
