Covenant is a Swedish electronic group founded in Helsingborg in 1986 by Eskil Simonsson, Joakim Montelius, and Clas Nachmanson. The trio began recording in Nachmansonâs bedroom studio while studying at Lund University, releasing their first track "The Replicant" on a 1992 compilation that led to a full album deal. In 1994 they issued Dreams Of A Cryotank, followed by Sequencer in 1996, which was distributed in the United States by 21st Circuitry and later reissued by Metropolis Records. The 1998 album Europa marked a shift toward synthâpop, and United States Of Mind (2000) peaked at number 9 on Germanyâs DAC Top 50 Albums Chart. Subsequent releases-Northern Light (2002), Skyshaper (2006, number 4 on DAC), Modern Ruin (2011), Leaving Babylon (2013), and The Blinding Dark (2016)-were accompanied by extensive European and North American tours, including a 2015 tour with The Labrynth and a 2019 German leg that introduced the Fieldworks: Exkursion EP. In 2022 the group released the EP Angel Pink. Covenantâs catalog has appeared on CMJ RPM charts and German DAC singles charts, and the band maintained a presence in the industrial and synthâpop scenes through continuous releases and touring.
