Biography

Dick Brave & the Backbeats is a German rockabilly band founded in 2003 by Sascha Schmitz, known as Sasha. The band consists of Sascha Schmitz (vocals), André Tolba (guitar), Maik Schott (piano), Felix Wiegand (double bass) and Martell Beigang (drums). Musically, the group plays rockabilly and rock 'n' roll. Their debut album Dick This! was released in 2003 and reached number 1 in the German album charts. Well-known singles from this album are "Take Good Care of My Baby" and "Walk This Way". After a successful tour and a farewell concert in December 2004, the band takes a break. in 2011, the band returned with the album Rock'n'Roll Therapy, which also entered the German charts. The single "Just Can't Get Enough" is taken from this album. The band receives several awards, including the ECHO and the Comet in 2004. Their performance at the wedding of US singer Pink in 2006, where they wowed the guests with their energetic performance, is particularly noteworthy. Dick Brave & the Backbeats are known for their rousing live performances and their reinterpretation of modern hits in rockabilly style.
