John Webb McMurry, known professionally as Webb Wilder, and born on May 19, 1954, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, is a country and rock & roll singer and guitarist. He began playing guitar at age 12 and started performing with bands by 14. His aunt, Lillian McMurry, founder of Trumpet Records, mentored him early in his career. His debut album Hybrid Vigor was released in 1989. Subsequent albums include Acres of Suede (1996), About Time (2005), and More Like Me (2009). In addition to his music career, he appeared in Peter Bogdanovichâs 1993 film The Thing Called Love and hosted a radio show for Sirius Radio. In 2020, Wilder became an afternoon-shift disc jockey for WMOT radio station based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
