Biography
Rudolf Rock & Die Schocker, a German rock band, was founded in 1975 by Uli Salm, formerly of Leinemann. The group's name is a playful twist on the name of Rudolf Schock, a well-known singer of operatic and light music at the time. Initially, the band featured members who had played with notable groups such as Lake, Atlantis, and Luciferâs Friend. Their debut album, Man MüÃte Nochmal Halbstark Sein, was released in 1976, followed by singles like "Blue Jeans Inge" and "Sexy Hexy / Das Ist 'ne Party". The band's lineup changed frequently over the years, with musicians from various prominent bands contributing to their sound. In 1981, Rudolf Rock & Die Schocker participated in the German Eurovision Song Contest pre-selection with "Mein Transistorradio", reaching ninth place. Their biggest chart success came in 1991 with a cover of "Herzilein", which spent fourteen weeks on the charts and peaked at Number 12 after their appearance on Jürgen von der Lippe's show Geld oder Liebe. In 2004, Susi Salm became the band's lead vocalist. Notable collaborations include Hugo Egon Balderâs album Ist das schön! in 2011, with Uli Salm as co-producer.
