Biography

The Polecats, a rockabilly band from north London, formed in 1977 with Tim 'Polecat' Worman on vocals and guitar, Martin 'Boz' Boorer on lead guitar and vocals, Phil Bloomberg on slap bass, and Chris Hawkes on drums. Initially known as Cult Heroes, they changed their name to the Polecats due to difficulties booking gigs with a name that sounded too punk. The band's first single, "Rockabilly Guy", was released in 1979 under Nervous Records. In 1980, they signed to Mercury Records and released Polecats Are Go! in 1981, which included their UK chart success with the David Bowie cover "John, I'm Only Dancing", reaching number 35. Their music has been featured in notable media, including the Disney Pixar film WALL-E and the TV series Glory Daze.
