Biography

Born in the Lebanese capital of Beirut on July 25, 1972, Carole Samaha initially turned to film after studying directing at Beirut's French-speaking Saint-Joseph University. Although she started out as an actress, it was in music that her career took off. This took off in 2003 with her first album, Helm, which won the Murex d'Or for female revelation of the year in 2004, followed by Oughniat El Toufoula the same year. The songs circulated and won over audiences, particularly "Ettala Fia", which won the Murex d'Or for best romantic song. Her style, associated with Arab pop, developed and Carole Samaha benefited from her sudden notoriety. She quickly followed up with a third album, Ana Horra (2004), then a fourth in 2006, Adwaa' El Shohra. Samaha racked up hit singles such as "Ghali Alayi", "Nezlet Sitara " and "Habbeit Delwa't", and was once again awarded Best Female Artist at the Arab Music Awards in Dubai in 2004. Now a major figure on the Lebanese cultural scene, Carole Samaha continues to make music, regularly releasing new albums such as Ehssas (2013), Zekrayati (2016) and Golden Album (2023), but also appears on screen, in 2008 in the film Bahr Al Nojoum and in the production of the series Al Shahroura. Above all, she takes an interest in new talent, taking part in the X Factor jury in 2013. A true representative of her country, Carole Samaha was also appointed United Nations Ambassador for Peace in the Middle East in 2008, and entered the hearts of the Lebanese population with her hits "Kallik Behalak", "Esmany" and "Wahchani Bladi".
