Emirati singer, pianist, and composer Hussain Al Jassmi was born August 25, 1979 in Khorfakkan, Sharjah. He established himself on the music scene in 1997 when he triumphed at an Arabic music competition in Dubai. He became a prolific writer of popular songs for other artists over the next few years. He launched his own singing career in 2002 with the album 2002 which included his debut single, âBawadaâakâ. He quickly became one of the most popular artists as an exponent of khaliji, a genre of popular modern music in Eastern Arabia that utilizes specific types of drums and contains elements of world music fused with traditional Arab music. In 2008 he captured the esteemed Murex dâOr award for Best Arabic Male Singer. He enjoyed his most well-known song in 2014 with âBoshret Kheirâ. Written by Amr Mostafa, it became an anthem designed to get people to vote in the 2014 Egyptian elections. He has toured the world many times over and became the first Arab performer to play the annual Vatican Christmas concert. In addition to scoring s handful of television programs, including Baad El Forak, he kept issuing a string of successful singles including âMa Nesenaâ, âRight Where Iâm Supposed to Beâ, and âAl Lail Wahshaâ.
