Biography

Marwan Khoury is a Lebanese pop singer and instrumentalist who, in addition to maintaining an award-winning solo career, has also written hit songs for Arabic artists like Nawal El Zoghbi. Born in the village of Mazraat Al Toufah on February 3, 1968, he studied music at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik and released his debut album, Kasak Habibi, in 1988. After spending several years as a keyboardist and bandleader for other artists, he resumed his solo career with 1994's "Fik Yamma Balak." Known not only for his voice, but also his compositional abilities, he wrote two songs on Nawal El Zoghbi's 1999 album, Maloum, including the Lebanese hit "Dal'ouna." Khoury's wide-ranging talents earned him the Murex d'Or award for "Best Multi-Talented Artist" in both 2003 and 2004, and he became a genuine pop star in his homeland with his second full-length album, Kil Al Asayed. Recorded in 2004, Kil Al Asayed was followed by 2006's Asr El Sho, 2008's Ana will-Lail, and 2010's Rajain, all of which were released by the Arab world's biggest record label, Rotana. He left Rotana during the 2010s and began producing his own material with 2013's El 'Ad el 'Aksi. Several years later, Khoury showcased his instrumental abilities with 2017's Marwan Khoury Playing The Piano.
