Biography

Bugz in the Attic was formed in West London by DJs and producers Orin Walters (Afronaught), Paul Dolby (Seiji), Kaidi Tatham, Daz‑I‑Kue, Alex Phountzi, Cliff Scott, Mark Force, and Matt Lord, each contributing to a collective that emerged in 2003 with a compilation for the Fabric‑Live series. The group first attracted public attention with the single "Booty La La", a track that exemplified their broken‑beat style. In 2006 they released their debut album Back In The Dog House, from which the single "Don't Stop the Music" reached number 76 on the UK Singles Chart and spent one week at Number 1 on the UK Dance Chart in October 2006. The same year, the collective launched its own label, BitaSweet Records, to distribute subsequent work. A year later, in 2007, they issued the remix collection Got the Bug: the Bugz in the Attic Remixes Collection, followed by further releases under BitaSweet. Throughout their career the group collaborated with a range of artists across the electronic music scene, toured extensively in the UK, and maintained a presence on club playlists. Their catalog, including the 2006 Back In The Dog House and the 2009 remix compilation, continues to be catalogued on major databases such as AllMusic and Discogs, reflecting the enduring influence of Bugz in the Attic on the broken‑beat genre.
