Biography

As Friends Rust was an American melodic hardcore band formed in Davie, Florida in 1996 by vocalist Damien Moyal. The original lineup included guitarist Henry Olmino, bass guitarist Jeronimo Gomez, and drummer Matthew Crum. After recording a demo tape but failing to secure a record deal, the band parted ways in February 1997. Moyal reformed As Friends Rust in June 1997 with a new lineup that included drummer Timothy Kirkpatrick, guitarists Gordon Tarpley and Joseph Simmons, and bass guitarist Kaleb Stewart. The band released its debut EP The Fists of Time via Good Life Recordings in 1998. After several line-up changes and extensive touring, As Friends Rust signed with Doghouse Records and released the EP As Friends Rust in 1999. The band released their debut album, Won, in 2001. In 2002, tensions within the band led to Moyal quitting, and the remaining members continued as Salem. The band's 1998 lineup reunited and embarked on a tour in 2008.
