Biography

The Nation of Ulysses was an American punk rock band from Washington, D.C., formed in 1988. The original lineup included Ian Svenonius on vocals and trumpet, Steve Kroner on guitar, Steve Gamboa on bass guitar, and James Canty on drums. After Tim Green joined as a second guitarist in late 1989, the band changed its name to Nation of Ulysses. Their first full-length album, 13-Point Program to Destroy America, was released in 1991 on Dischord Records, followed by Plays Pretty for Baby in 1992. The band disbanded in autumn 1992 during the recording of their third album. Six songs from those sessions were compiled with four live tracks as The Embassy Tapes, released in 2000.
