Biography

Poison Idea was an American hardcore punk band formed in 1980 in Portland, Oregon, by vocalist Jerry Lang, known as Jerry A. The original lineup featured guitarist Chris Tense, bassist Glen Estes, and drummer Dean Johnson. Inspired by the Germs and Black Flag, the group released their debut EP, Pick Your King, in 1983 in a limited edition of one thousand copies. The band achieved significant influence within the punk and metal scenes with the 1986 release Kings of Punk, which integrated hard rock elements into their sound. In 1989, they established their own label, American Leather, and issued the landmark album Feel the Darkness in 1990. Their lyrics often explored fatalism and the excessive lifestyles of the members. Guitarist Tom Roberts, known as Pig Champion, died on January 30, 2006, prior to the release of The Latest Will and Testament. After multiple reunions, the group released Confuse & Conquer in 2015 before officially disbanding in 2017.
