Biography
Adiss Harmandian, born on January 14, 1945, in Beirut, Lebanon, was a Lebanese-Armenian pop singer. Harmandian was recognized as a pioneer of the estradayin genre of Armenian music, with influential songs such as "Nouné" and "Karoun Karoun". Throughout his career, he released numerous albums including Adiss 73, Adiss Loves You, and Karoun Karoun. Harmandian's musical legacy had a lasting impact on Armenian identity in Lebanon, the Middle East, and throughout the diaspora. He received several awards, including the St. Mesrob Mashdots Medal from the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia in 2005 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Armenian Music Awards that same year. Harmandian passed away on September 1, 2019, at UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, after a long battle with cancer.
