3Ds, a noise pop band from Dunedin, New Zealand, formed in May 1988. The group consisted of Dominic Stones on drums, Denise Roughan on bass guitar and keyboards, David Saunders on guitar, and later David Mitchell on guitar. Their first release was the EP Fish Tales (1990) under Flying Nun Records, marking the start of a long collaboration with the label. In 1992, they released their debut album Hellzapoppin', followed by The Venus Trail in 1993, which included notable singles "Hey Seuss" and "Beautiful Things". The band toured extensively, including performances with Nirvana and U2, and achieved commercial success worldwide between 1992 and 1995. Their third album, Strange News from the Angels, was released in 1997 before the band announced their split early that year. In 2009, they reformed for a festival performance and subsequently toured New Zealand and the UK.
