Wibal & Alex are a Puerto Rican reggaeton duo formed in 2002 in ComerÃoâvocalists José Rivera (Wibal) and José DÃaz (Alex)âwho came up in the islandâs mixtape era before breaking onto major compilations in the mid-2000s. Early visibility arrived with âFantasÃaâ on Luny Tunesâ Mas Flow, Vol. 2 (2005), aligning the pair with the sceneâs top producers and paving the way for their debut album El Repertorio (2007, Universal/Montano), a set that blended perreo with R&B and merengue touches and spun off fan staples like âGata Psycho,â âPresión,â and âLa Baya.â They followed with Los Bionikosâalso billed as Los Dueños del Planeta: Los Bionikosâin 2009, consolidating their âLos Dueños del Bandidajeâ tag while the single âLa Nena del CaserÃoâ became their signature club hit. A third full-length, World Edition (2012, Fresh Productions), extended their run with 21 tracks and kept the duo active on Latin urban radio and tours. After a quieter stretch, Wibal & Alex resurfaced in the streaming era with singles such as âA Ciegasâ (feat. Divino), âInfrahumanaâ (feat. Eybiem), and âNunca te vayasâ (2017â2018), then issued the retrospective-minded album The Last Sound in 2020, bringing catalog pillars like âLa Nena del CaserÃo,â âSi Supieras,â and âSin Miedo a Morirâ to new audiences.
