Hailing from Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, Franco "El Gorila" (Luis Francisco Cortés Torres) began his career in the mid-2000s as part of Wisin & Yandel's WY Records collective, gaining early recognition through the influential compilation Los Vaqueros (2006). He launched his solo journey with the debut album Welcome to the Jungle (2009), which reached number 5 on the U.S. Billboard Top Latin Albums chart and featured collaborations including âPaâ Lo Oscuroâ with Wisin & Yandel, âMillonarioâ with John Patiño and Cosculluela, and âElla Es Agresivaâ featuring Tony Dize. Two years later, he released his second studio album, La Verdadera Maquina (2011), highlighted by âMi Música Buenaâ with Yandel, âDueloâ with Wisin, and âDinero y Famaâ featuring Arcángel. Throughout the 2010s, Franco El Gorila contributed to multiple hits in the reggaetón scene, appearing on tracks such as Jowell & Randyâs âSuave y Lentoâ (2010), âMala Conducta (Remix)â (2010), and âTremenda Sata, Pt. 3 (Remix)â (2014). He also collaborated with artists like Ozuna on âDe Vez en Cuandoâ (2016) and Jory Boy on âTócameâ (2023), while releasing singles of his own including âUnderâ (2023) and âDale con la Correaâ (2025).
