Julio Voltio, born Julio Irving Ramos Filomeno on June 11, 1977, in Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a former reggaeton artist and rapper who was instrumental in shaping the early sound of the genre. Voltio began his music career as part of The Masters of Funk and later formed the duo Karel y Voltio. After going solo, he released his debut album Voltage AC (2004), which featured hits like "Julito Maraña" and "Bumper." His follow-up, Voltage DC (2005), included his most famous track, "ChulÃn CulÃn Chunflai," a collaboration with Calle 13âs Residente. Voltioâs gritty lyrics and authentic style made him a key figure in reggaeton's rise to global popularity. In 2007, he released En lo Claro, which included tracks like "Pónmela," featured in Grand Theft Auto IV. Despite his success, Voltio retired from music in 2014 after converting to Christianity, choosing to leave the reggaeton scene and focus on his spiritual journey. His legacy remains as one of the pioneers of the genre, with collaborations alongside artists like Tego Calderón, Residente, and Akon.
