Biography

Union Jack, a French ska‑punk group originating from the northern suburbs of Paris, was formed in 1997 with guitarist‑vocalist, bassist‑singer Rude Ben, and drummer Skrack; the lineup later added a saxophonist in 2000. Their early releases included the demos Yellin’ in Your Ears (2001), Live at the Beer Squat (2002), and Bad Ska (2002), followed by the EP You Don’t Really Know Who I Am in 2004. In 2009 the band issued its debut studio album Tales of Urban Freedom, which established their “bad ska” style and led to tours across Europe and Canada with acts such as The Damned, UK Subs, and The Aggrolites. Subsequent albums were Never Ending Struggle (2012), Supersonic (2017), Violence (2019), and Acid Serenades (2025), each expanding their international presence. Union Jack’s consistent touring, collaborations with punk contemporaries, and persistent output have cemented their position within the global ska‑punk scene.
