Nerf Herder is an American pop punk band formed in Santa Barbara, California, in 1994 by vocalist and guitarist Parry Gripp, bassist Charlie Dennis, and drummer Steve Sherlock. The group began as a self-described geek rock band that blended simple punk structures with humorous and pop-culture-referencing lyrics. Their breakthrough came with the 1996 single âVan Halenâ, which earned significant radio play and secured a recording contract with Arista Records. They released their debut studio album, Nerf Herder, in 1996, followed by How to Meet Girls (2000) on Honest Don's Records, American Cheese (2002), Nerf Herder IV (2008), and Rockingham (2016). Their notable achievements include composing and performing the theme music for the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and releasing the EP My E.P. (2001) through My Records. Despite lineup changes and a temporary disbandment in 2003, the band reformed in 2006, and their career includes active touring.
