Biography
With six studio albums since 1994, the California-based trio has always vacillated between punk and deeper, more ambitious pop. From Dude Ranch (No. 67 in 1997) to Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (No. 1 in 2001) to Enema of the State (No. 9 in 1999), Blink-182 has delivered its share of punk-pop anthems. Put on hold in 2004, Blink-182's career officially resumed in June 2010. The September 2011 album Neighborhoods is the manifestation of this comeback (No. 2). But the reunion was short-lived, as in 2015, in the midst of album preparation, a series of rumors and contradictory announcements led to the ousting of Tom DeLonge, who now devotes himself to his solo career. Matt Skiba, Alkaline Trio's guitarist and vocalist, was made official shortly afterwards. So it's he who takes part in the recording of the new album, California, released in 2016 (No. 1). Thus stabilized, the band recorded Nine in 2019, a darker album than usual, partly due to the depression suffered by bassist Mark Hoppus in previous years, but which nevertheless reached No. 3 in the United States. After a 7-year absence, Tom DeLonge rejoins the band, thanks to his rapprochement with Mark Hoppus when the latter was battling cancer. After Matt Skiba's departure, Blink-182 records its diptych as a trio, the first part of which, One More Time... (2023) reaches No. 1 with no less than six charted singles, followed by One More Time... Part-2 (2024).
