Biography

To Kill a King is a British indie rock band formed in 2009 and based in London. The group evolved from an earlier project called Kid iD, founded in 2006 by Ralph Pelleymounter, Ian Dudfield, and Josh Platman while studying at the University of Leeds. They adopted the name To Kill a King in 2009 following the addition of Jonathan Willoughby and Ben Jackson. The band released the single “Fictional State” in May 2011 and the EP My Crooked Saint on October 16, 2011. After signing with Xtra Mile Recordings in 2013, they re-released their debut album, Cannibals with Cutlery, which reached number 13 on the Official Record Store Chart. Following a lineup change that introduced Grant McNeill and Josh Taffel, the band released the self-titled album To Kill a King on March 2, 2015, featuring the track “Love Is Not Control”. The group issued their third album, The Spiritual Dark Age, in 2018.
