Biography
The Obsessed is an American doom metal band from Potomac, Maryland, formed in 1976 by guitarist and vocalist Scott "Wino" Weinrich. Initially known as Warhorse and later the Leather Nunz, the band renamed itself to the Obsessed and released its first EP, Sodden Jackal, in 1983. After disbanding in 1986, Weinrich joined Saint Vitus as lead vocalist before reforming the Obsessed in 1989. The group subsequently released three studio albums: The Obsessed (1990), Lunar Womb (1991), and The Church Within (1994). The band toured extensively, opening for Entombed and Unsane in 1994, but disbanded again in 1995. Weinrich later formed Spirit Caravan and rejoined Saint Vitus before announcing a permanent reunion of the Obsessed in March 2016. Subsequent studio albums include Sacred (2017) and Gilded Sorrow (2024).
