Biography

The Focus Group is a project of experimental electronic musician and graphic designer Julian House. The project's sound blends influences from old library music, public information films, and soundtracks to 1970s films and programs, as well as the sound collage of musique concrète. The Focus Group released their debut album Sketches and Spells in 2005 on House's own label, Ghost Box. Subsequent albums include Hey Let Loose Your Love (2005), which was featured in The Wire’s top 50 albums of that year, and We Are All Pan's People (2007). Notable collaborations include working with indie electronic band Broadcast on the album Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age (2009), which was named The Wire’s top album of that year.
