The Eternal Afflict, a music project from Essen, Germany, was formed in 1989. Initially known as Romantic Affliction, they released three demo tapes before changing their name and releasing their debut album Atroci(-me)ty in 1991. The following year saw the release of the EP (Luminographic) Agony, which included the popular track "San Diego". In 1994, internal disputes led to a split between Mark and Cyan, resulting in the album War. Four years later, the compilation Nothing Meant Forever was released, marking their return to performing live. The group reunited in 2003 with the release of Katharsis, followed by Black Heritage in 2004. In 2009, they collaborated with Qntal on a reimagined version of "San Diego" titled "San Diego 2K9". The Eternal Afflict continued to release music through the years, including the trilogy consisting of two EPs and one album in 2014.
