The Chain Gang of 1974 is the musical project of American musician and DJ Kamtin Mohager. Born in San José, California, he was raised in Colorado and Hawaii. After starting out as a bassist, he went solo in 2010 with Fantastic Nostalgic: The Early Recordings . His electro-rock, inspired by new wave and the French touch, then developed with the albums White Guts (2010) and Wayward Fire (2011). The Chain Gang of 1974 scored its first international success with "Sleepwalking" , featured on the 2014 album Daydream Forever. The track is also featured on the soundtrack to the game Grand Theft Auto V.
