Biography
Lia Ices, born around 1985 in Chicago, Illinois, is an American singer-songwriter. She began playing the piano at age five and studied theater at Walnut Hill School for the Arts and New York University's Experimental Theatre Wing. Her musical career started with the release of her debut album Necima in 2008, produced by Nicolas Vernhes at Rare Book Room Studios in Brooklyn. She gained prominence when "Love is Won" from her second studio album Grown Unknown, released in 2011, was featured in the closing credits of an episode of HBO's Girls on June 10, 2012. The album included a duet with Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon on "Daphne". Her subsequent albums include Ices, released in 2014, and Family Album, released in 2021.
