Biography

The Busters, a ska and world music group from Heidelberg, Germany, formed in January 1987. The band initially consisted of twelve musicians with diverse backgrounds ranging from jazz to classical and rock. Their first release was the single "No Respect / Keen On Games" in 1988, which introduced them to a wider audience. In January 1989, they released their debut album Ruder Than Rude on Weser Label, propelling them to prominence in the European ska scene. The album's success led to licensing deals with Unicorn Records and Bondage Records, followed by extensive European tours. They opened for Bad Manners in Germany and performed alongside Ludwig von 88 and Les Satellites in France. Throughout their career, The Busters released numerous albums including Couch Potatoe (1989), Dead Or Alive (1991), Sexy Money (1994), and Live In Montreux (1995). The group's evolution saw them transition from their ska roots to a more pop-oriented sound, as evidenced by albums like Evolution Pop (2005), Stompede (2007), and Waking the Dead (2009). The Busters continued recording and performing throughout the 2010, releasing studio albums such as Supersonic Eskalator (2014), Straight Ahead (2017), and The Busters (2019).
