Biography

The Almost, an American Christian rock band from Clearwater, Florida, was formed in 2005 and fronted by Underoath drummer and vocalist Aaron Gillespie. The project began with Gillespie releasing early demos, later developing into a full band lineup that included guitarists Dusty Redmon and Jay Vilardi, bassist Jon Thompson, and drummer Joe Musten. Their debut album, Southern Weather, was released in 2007 via Tooth & Nail Records and featured the single “Say This Sooner.” The band toured extensively following its release, including appearances alongside Paramore. They released their second studio album, Monster Monster, in 2009. It included the singles “Lonely Wheel” and “Hands” and peaked at number 67 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on the US Christian Albums chart. In 2013, Aaron Gillespie confirmed that The Almost had entered hiatus due to members’ commitments to other projects.
