Biography

One of Nashville's most successful crossover groups, Georgia duo Sugarland have won Grammy Awards, topped the US charts and notched up sales of over 14 million with their euphoric brand of country pop. Originally a trio formed by Jennifer Nettles (vocals), Kristian Bush (multi-intrumentals) and Kristen Hall (guitar), the group cut their teeth on Atlanta's folk rock circuit in the early 2000s and landed a deal with the Mercury Nashville label for debut album Twice The Speed Of Life (2004). It was a big success, selling over 3 million copies and producing the Top 40 singles Baby Girl and Something More, but Hall left the group soon afterwards. Their profile rose further, however, when they collaborated with Bon Jovi, performed at the Grammy Awards and duetted with Beyoncé at the American Music Awards, before releasing acclaimed US top five album Enjoy The Ride (2006). Follow-ups Love On The Inside (2008) and The Incredible Machine (2010) both shot to Number 1 as Nettles was acclaimed for her lung-busting, soaring anthems. Tragedy struck in 2011, however, when the stage collapsed at a gig at Indiana State Fair and killed seven people. Nettles took time off in 2012 to have her first child and appear as a judge on TV talent show Duets before returning with a Rick Rubin produced solo album That Girl (2014).
