Steve Tallis, born on October 28, 1952, in Maylands, Western Australia, is an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist. Inspired by a Louis Armstrong and Trini Lopez concert at the age of 10, he began his musical journey in 1962. In 1967, Tallis' band My Grandfather's Blues won "Band of the Year" at Hoadley's Battle of Bands. His solo career commenced in 1975, marked by collaborations with various bands and musicians. Notable releases include Anthology Volume One The Sacred Path Of The Fried Egg- Maylands To The Gates Of Hell 1962-2001 (2001), a comprehensive collection spanning his early years to 2001; Loko (2004) with The Holy Ghosts; Jezebel Spirit (2006); and The First Degree (2014). Tallis has performed with international artists such as Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, and B.B. King, and at festivals worldwide, including the Edinburgh Fringe and Cognac Blues Passion. His music blends blues, folk, gospel, and world influences, often described as ethnic blues or tribal folk.
