Biography
Tinsley Ellis is an American blues guitarist, singer and songwriter, born on June 4, 1957 in Atlanta, Georgia. Inspired as a teenager by artists such as B.B. King, Freddie King and Duane Allman, he began playing in local bands in the 1970s before co-founding the blues-rock band The Heartfixers in 1981, with whom he recorded several acclaimed albums on the Southern blues scene. He launched his solo career in 1988 with the album Georgia Blue, signed to Alligator Records, and quickly established a reputation for his powerful guitar playing, expressive vocals and original compositions. Over the course of his career, he has released numerous albums, including Fanning the Flames (1989), Storm Warning (1994), Fire It Up (1997), Moment of Truth (2007), Midnight Blue (2014), Winning Hand (2018), Devil May Care (2022) and Naked Truth (2024), while touring extensively in the USA, Europe and Australia. Recognized as a major exponent of contemporary blues, Tinsley Ellis combines the electric blues tradition with rock and soul influences, establishing himself as one of the most respected guitarists of his generation.
