Space Raiders were an electronic group from Middlesbrough, United Kingdom, formed in 1997. The band comprised three members who initially performed in costume at the Middlesbrough Arena on Halloween 1997, dancing to a preârecorded Digital Audio Tape. Their breakthrough came with the signing to Fatboy Slimâs Skint Records, after which they released the single "Glam Raid" in early 1998, reaching Number 68 on the UK Singles Chart in March. In June 1999 they issued the single "(I Need The) Disko Doktor", which became the groupâs bestâknown track. The band followed with the albums Don't Be Daft and Hot Cakes, the latter receiving airplay on cable music channels. Their single "Song for Dot" was featured in the games SSX and SSX Tricky, and a sequel, "Song for Dot II", was later released. Space Raiders remained active through the early 2000s, with their releases contributing to the lateâ1990s UK electronic scene.
